Medscapes offers landscape design and installation in Wesley Chapel, Florida, where our team is based. We design the yard first, then build it: planting beds, new sod, paver patios and walkways, landscape lighting and drainage, with full-service maintenance on 40-week and 50-week plans if you want it kept up. Doug Wilson, our Director of Operations, walks every Wesley Chapel yard himself and writes the quote, and the estimate is free.

Wesley Chapel

What shapes a Wesley Chapel landscape

Wesley Chapel sits inland in USDA hardiness zone 9b, so a planting plan has to ride out the occasional winter cold snap as well as summer heat. Rain comes unevenly through the year, and a yard has to be built for both seasons.

Cold snaps
Zone 9b winters can dip below freezing on the coldest nights, so tender plants go only where they are sheltered.
A long dry season
October through May averages about 3 inches of rain a month, so new plantings need steady water through their first months.
Summer downpours
June through September brings about 60 percent of the year's rain, so we plan grading and drainage before anything is planted.

How we design a Wesley Chapel yard

Design comes before planting. Doug walks the yard with you, notes where the sun falls, where water sits after a storm and which plants are worth keeping, and asks how you want to use the space.

Hand sketches are free on approved projects. 2D and 3D designs are priced per project, and half the design fee goes toward the installation.

The team that draws the plan builds it, from the first bed to the last light, so nothing gets lost between designer and crew.

What we install for Wesley Chapel homes

Working within Wesley Chapel HOA rules

If your home is under HOA rules, check what the board must approve before work starts. We design to those rules from the first sketch.

Florida law bars an HOA from prohibiting Florida-friendly landscaping, though the board can still review how it is done. Artificial turf is different: state law limits what cities and counties may ban, but an HOA can still restrict turf in a front yard.

While the District's water shortage order lasts, no HOA may enforce standards that would raise water use, such as making you replace plants to meet a look.

When to put in new sod in Wesley Chapel

UF/IFAS advises that in north and central Florida the best time to plant St. Augustine is spring and late summer to early fall, avoiding the cold winter and the hot, dry summer months.

UF/IFAS guidance puts the first mow of new sod at generally 14 to 21 days after planting. New lawns also get their own watering days under the District order; our Pasco County page sets them out, and we leave you a written schedule.
